Passion 4 Jesus Convention : The Baptism of Fire – Allen Hood

27th April 2014 – Morning Session

Jesus was at a lonely time in his ministry, it was drawing near for his crucifixion. Jesus began to plead with them to listen to Him and to hear His heart. He longed to be closer to them. He longed to give them something more. He longed to give them Himself, to indwell in them and to baptize them with fire (Luke 12:49-53). He wanted to be with us forever (John 17:24-26). He wants us to love Him as the Father loves Him and be in us as the Father is in Him and He in the Father.

Jesus did not come to give us peace but to bring division, to separate us from the things and people that separate us from Him so that He would be in us and would always have us for Himself. Jesus is a jealous lover and He wants all of us, all of our hearts and He is not willing to share.

He is going to give us a new heart and a new passion. Jesus is the true baptizer who baptizes us with the Holy Spirit and with fire. The Holy Spirit gives us the passion for Jesus because He knows how to love Jesus. His work is to make us love Jesus. He knows how to love Himself and us.

Love always has a lover, a beloved and the love between them, God is the lover, Jesus is the beloved and Holy Spirit is the love between them. It is the trinity of love where Jesus loving us is God loving us (John 17:1-26).

God answers every sincere prayer. He hears and answers every prayer of Jesus on our behalf. Jesus is our greatest intercessor and the Holy Spirit prays for and through us. Jesus is the highest revelation of God to us and the highest revelation of man to God. Without the Holy Spirit, there would have been no incarnation. Jesus was taught as a young boy by the Holy Spirit (Luke 2:40, 46).

The Holy Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness after His baptism (Matthew 4:1-11). It was the battle of all battles. It was intense and fierce with so much hinging on the outcome. All Heaven stood still, as Jesus battled against the most evil being and his minions in the entire universe. Satan was the powerful ruler of the kingdom darkness, of evil and wickedness and he attacked Jesus with everything in his power and control. Every principality, every ruler of darkness, every prince of the air and every spiritual wickedness in high places and all the forces of darkness were present. It was a fierce battle, the air and the atmosphere was thick and heavy with the presence of evil and every vile demon and foul and unclean creature.

But, Jesus overcame him with the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God. He proved His superiority over Satan and the kingdom of darkness that day and came out victorious. After that, demons trembled when they saw Him and begged Him not to torment them. He conquered over evil with the finger of God.

In Ephesians 4:7-10, Jesus first descended into the lower parts of the earth and then He ascended up far above the Heavens in order that He might fulfil all things. The cross and the resurrection were not enough. He wanted to give us the Holy Spirit, God in us, Himself, the Christ. We have the most powerful person in the universe living on the inside of us. We were made for it and we were designed to carry dynamite power on the inside. In that day, the church will come into agreement with the Holy Spirit (Revelations 22:17).

Everything of God is on fire. His person, His throne, the seraphim and His chariots are on fire. We then being of God should be on fire also.
